After enabling Advantage+ placements, Facebook is pushing most impressions to Audience Network. Can I stop low-quality placements from dominating spend?

Advantage+ placements don’t allow manual exclusion of individual placements. That said, you can still influence Meta's delivery:

Optimization Strategies

  1. Break Out Campaigns

    • Create a separate campaign with manual placements (e.g., Facebook Feed, Instagram Reels only) and exclude Audience Network entirely.

    • Use this to compare performance side-by-side.

  2. Monitor Placement Performance

    • In Ads Manager: Customize columns > Breakdown by "Placement"

    • Identify if Audience Network is driving clicks but not conversions.

  3. Optimize for Quality Events

    • Use purchase or add to cart events instead of link clicks. This forces Meta to prioritize placements that drive deeper actions—not just cheap traffic.

  4. Use Cost Controls

    • Apply minimum ROAS or cost per result limits to deprioritize low-converting placements.

  5. Upgrade Creatives

    • Use aspect ratios and visuals that are less effective in Audience Network (e.g., square video vs. native banner sizes) to make them less likely to be served there.

Important Note:

You can’t selectively block placements inside Advantage+—so if Audience Network consistently underperforms, you’ll need to test a manual placement campaign or let Meta optimize and cap spend using cost controls.
