Hey everyone, I need some help with my Meta ad strategy. I have a winning CBO campaign for my clothing store that’s spending $500 a day and doing great. I have a brand-new video ad I'm excited about, so I put it in a new ad group within the campaign. It's been running for 3 days, and the original ad group has spent over $450, but my new ad group has only spent about $5! I'm trying to test if this new video can beat the old one, but CBO won't even give it a chance. How can I actually get some data on my new creative without messing up my entire winning campaign?

The uneven distribution of spend in a CBO campaign isn't a bug; it's the algorithm doing its job. It sees your initial ad group getting more conversions (even if they're just link clicks) and assumes that's the best place to spend your money. Your new ad group is being starved because it has no data to compete.

The Fix: Separate Your Testing from Your Scaling

You should never test new creatives inside of a winning CBO scaling campaign.

  1. Create a dedicated "Creative Testing" campaign. This is a completely separate campaign with its own budget. Set it to a low daily budget (e.g., ₹500/day or $6 USD) and use Ad Set Budget Optimization (ABO) instead of CBO.

  2. Use a "Testing" Ad Set. Inside this new campaign, create a single ad set that mirrors the audience of your main campaign.

  3. Add all your new creatives as ads within that one ad set. This forces the algorithm to distribute the spend across all the ads, giving each one a chance to get some data and find a winner.

  4. Analyze and Promote. Let this testing campaign run for 3-5 days. Once you've identified a clear winner (based on CTR, Cost Per ATC, and even comments/shares), you can then move that winning ad to your main CBO scaling campaign.
