Step-by-Step: Import GA4 Conversions into Google Ads
1. Check That Google Ads & GA4 Are Linked
Log in to Google Ads.
Go to Tools & Settings () → Setup → Linked accounts.
Find Google Analytics (GA4) and click Details.
If your GA4 property is listed → good. If not:
2. Verify Purchase Event in GA4
Open GA4 → go to Admin (settings-- bottom left).
Under Data display → Events, check that the purchase event is showing.
If it’s not yet marked as a conversion:
3. Import Conversions into Google Ads
Back in Google Ads:
Select the purchase conversion event (and any other useful ones like add_to_cart, begin_checkout).
Click Import and Continue.
4. Mark Purchase as Primary
After import, go to your Conversions list in Google Ads.
Make sure Purchase is set to Primary (Include in “Conversions” = checked).
If you created a temporary Page View earlier, switch that one to Secondary (uncheck “Include in Conversions”).
5. Apply to Your Campaign
Now, even before Trackbee fires inside Ads, your campaign will optimize toward GA4 purchase data immediately.
Pro tip for Trackbee users:
If Trackbee pushes conversions to GA4, you’ll see them in your GA4 purchase event.
If it doesn’t, you can still run the temporary Page View method I gave earlier to unlock impressions until the first Trackbee sale fires.
